100 degrees

You dislike the hot weather.  Your face becomes flushed and you let out a few verbal warnings of discomfort and if some clothes don't come off, or you don't feel a breeze soon, your warnings become cries with tears...and grandma's heart melts.

Today it got up to 100 degrees.

Your mother's car does not have air, grandma's does.  Sorted in several  baskets near the door was dirty laundry.  After you ate we talked a little, laughed a little, gave Murphy dirty looks every time he barked LOUD, then you fell asleep.  The mercury kept rising, so grandma decided to head for the laundry mat while the gettin' was good.

By the time we arrived you were awake (about a 2 minute drive).  I stuck you in a rolling cart and the wheeled you around as I loaded laundry baskets into another rolling cart.  You gave me a smirk.

For your entertainment as I loaded the washing machines I held up some of the items that had colors or patterns and exclaimed, "Look LillaMai, orange!"  You replied  "aaat!" followed by much toe wiggling and waving arms.  Four machines loads later, we watched the swishing and soap bubbles.

When your face started getting flushed I quickly scooped you up and we headed for the door where there was a breeze and shade along the front of the laundry mat.  We strolled back and forth.  You cooed and sucked your fingers.  We talked about the traffic going by and before long the machines were done.  I put you back in your seat in the rolling cart and we began the fun part of unloading cool, wet, clean laundry.  I gave you your soft rattle and teething toy and you were content.  You even squealed with delight when I brushed a wet wash cloth against your toes before putting into the dryer.  The coin machine got your attention and as it spit out quarters I told you we won the "jackpot!!!" (wishful thinking).  The other people in the laundry mat stared at us like we were "crazy" (ok, like grandma was crazy, they thought you were "cute".

We headed back to the breeze while the clothes dried and somewhere between the  pop delivery man and when the lady filled up the coin machine you fell asleep.  PERFECT timing for folding the clothes (& let me tell you folding hot, dry laundry in 100 degree weather is not as much fun as unloading cool, wet, clean laundry).

By the time we got home you were awake and hungry but still in a decent mood.  You ate and we both laid down for a nap...good job LillaMai!  Grandma loves you!
